Dr. Grothe is a board-certified clinical health psychologist, and a consultant in both the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, and the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, and Nutrition at Mayo Clinic.  She is an Associate Professor of Psychology with over 60 publications and numerous national presentations. Her clinical and research activities focus on the psychological aspects of obesity and bariatric surgery and helping patients with health concerns become more resilient.

Investing in Women's Health: Menopause Myths and Facts with Mayo Clinic
Kickoff Webcast Thursday, October 19, at 11:30am EST. 

The Institute for Private Investors (IPI) is excited to announce the launch of this quarterly Mayo Clinic expert virtual speaker series as part of membership. We will kick off this series Thursday, October 19 at 11:30 am ET with Menopause: Myths and Facts with Dr. Stephanie Faubion.

Dr. Faubion is a respected expert in women’s health and head of the Women’s Health Center at Mayo Clinic, as well as Chair of the Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville, FL campus. She is also the Medical Director for The North American Menopause Society.

She will share about the menopause transition and get any questions answered about what to expect, how to manage symptoms and how women can set themselves up to remain healthy going forward.

Menopause affects 50 percent of the population, and men can be supportive partners and caretakers if they are informed about the subject.

In addition, Dr. Faubion has mentioned she will address the investment opportunities associated with this rapidly growing industry. She will delve into innovation in this sector, as well as promising startups that are emerging. With productivity loss and healthcare costs estimated at $150 billion globally, the industry is expected to grow to more than $24 billion by the end of the decade.

Her talk will include Q&A, and we will end with breakout discussions. Family members are welcome to attend for this important discussion.

About Dr. Stephanie S. Faubion, MD, MBA, FACP, MSCP, IF

Dr. Faubion is Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, Director of the Mayo Clinic Center for Women’s Health and the Medical Director of The Menopause Society.   

She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and medical school and residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She received her masters of business administration at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in 2019.

Her clinical research interests include menopause and sexual health in women. She is co-Principal Investigator for the Data Registry on Experiences of Aging, Menopause and Sexuality (DREAMS). She has served on the board of directors for the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She also serves as editor of the journal, Menopause and is on the editorial boards of Journal of Sexual Medicine and Maturitas. She is the author of The New Rules of Menopause:  A Mayo Clinic Guide to Perimenopause and Beyond. She is an innovator in women’s health and aims to better serve women in the menopause transition and beyond.
