IPI's Safe Harbor
To maintain a safe harbor for private investors, all members annually agree to abide by a code of conduct. An important feature is that members do not solicit other members for investments or services and are polite and professional in their interactions both online and at events.
Additionally, private investor members disclose affiliations on their membership application/renewal. If a private investor works within a family office open to outside clients, or has a fund open to non-family investors, IPI considers that member a dual (non-ivory snow) member. An ivory snow member is defined as a private investor who has no reason to access outside investment capital and offers no products or services to other investors. Today 94% of the investor members are ivory snow. Nametags at forums reflect a member's status and certain sessions are open only to ivory snow members.
Important Note:
The Institute for Private Investors does not make a direct or indirect endorsement of any limited partnership, investment advisor or other financial advisor. Inclusion of a firm on Memberlink® as an Advisor or Leaders Council member of IPI or as a speaker at an IPI event is not to be used or interpreted as a recommendation of a particular firm or investment advice of any kind. Private investors should always perform their own extensive due diligence.
