The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has been consistently ranked among the leading business schools in the world. In 1998 and 2000, for example, it was ranked the top business school in the United States by Business Week. Its academic departments have received more #1 rankings and more top-five rankings than any other business school in the world.

Wharton is one of the world's best known centers of investment finance. It offers investment programs to some of the leading financial firms as well as to the Investment Management Consultant Association (leading to the CIMA designation), the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE) program, and the Securities Industry Association among others.

The faculty involved in the Private Wealth Management program has had extensive experience in the investment industry, training professionals as well as providing consulting advice about investments.

Wharton's Aresty Institute, which hosts this program, has provided executive education programs for a large number of the world's leading corporations since 1988. Wharton's custom clients include Allianz, Aventis Behring, Chubb, Deutsche Post World Net, IBM, Independence Blue Cross, Merck, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Company, Scottish Power, Siam Cement, TDC (formerly Teledanmark), and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
